White Star Line's ship manifest from the R.M.S. Cedric dated
October 1, 1918

An enlargement of Ropo's information included on the manifest:

  • One of the other crew members listed on the Cedric's manifest was Eugenio San Luis, who is also listed as a witness at Ropo and Dolly's wedding on their MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE.
  • Both Ropo's and Eugenio's position were listed as a trimmers, which meant that they were responsible for shoveling the coal into the bins (unlike the firemen who actually maintained the furnaces).
  • July 29th manifest indicates that Ropo was sailing into New York Harbor less than one week after he married Dolly (on July 23, 1918)
  • Ropo's address on July 29th manifest is the same as the LOWE FAMILY's address in the LIVERPOOL COURTS(Number Three Court, Eighth House, Laxey Street), but different than the one listed by either Dolly or Ropo on their MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE.
  • October 1st manifest includes physical description of Ropo, including age: 22, height: 5'0" and weight: 120 lbs.
